Shaping 2060: A Vision of Possibility

February 1, 2025   Daniel Schmitz

Let’s take a journey through time – to the year 2060. The world has radically changed. Artificial intelligence has taken over nearly all the tasks that were once done by humans. Machines compose music, write books, cure diseases, and make economic decisions. They are faster, more accurate, and often more creative than we are. But what does this mean for us? What is left for us to do?

Looking back, humanity has already experienced a similar transformation. During the Industrial Revolution, many physical tasks were replaced by machines, and people had to adapt by focusing on mental activities – planning, administration, creativity, and science. Now, in 2060, the next revolution has arrived: Artificial intelligence has not only taken over simple tasks but is now handling complex mental work. Decisions that were once made by experts are now made by algorithms, and research, art, and even philosophy are increasingly shaped by machines. The importance of human labor has decreased, and the question we must now ask ourselves is: what is the role of humanity in a world where we are no longer needed for traditional work?

Embracing the Future

In 2060, many of us have started to embrace life in a completely new way. With the pressure to work no longer hanging over us, we are rediscovering the joys of art, creativity, and meaningful experiences. Art has evolved into something more spontaneous and pure, created for the joy of creation rather than for fame or wealth. Knowledge has become limitless and instantly available, allowing us to explore ideas and passions in ways never before possible.

A significant shift in lifestyle has also occurred. With fewer people working in cities, many have returned to nature, seeking a deeper connection with the earth. Living more self-sufficiently, we’ve reconnected with natural cycles, rediscovered ancient wisdom, and learned to live in harmony with the environment. Spirituality, no longer overshadowed by the need for productivity, has flourished as we explore deeper questions of life: Who are we? Is there a greater meaning beyond the material world?

The future of humanity, as seen in 2060, is far from hopeless. Instead, it offers opportunities for growth in ways we could not have imagined in the past. Rather than fearing technological change, we are actively preparing for it by focusing on education, creating new ways of living, and using technology in a thoughtful and conscious manner. Those of us who adapted early and stayed flexible have not only survived in this new world, but they are helping to shape it – a world where humanity finds new ways to thrive, rather than feeling unnecessary.
